A web browser based system, which allows the owner to update the content of their web site as and when required is called a web based content management systems (CMS). The administrator or admin users of the website logs in and update / change images, content, links, menus which is stored in DB and HTML is created dynamically on request.
A Standard CMS consists of two components (1) Content Management Application (CMA) (2) Content Delivery Application.
Content Management Application (CMA): It helps the web administrator or web master to change / update contents, links, images etc without any sort of web programming or technical help.
Content Delivery Application (CDA): The update information or whatever changes made by administrator is compiled and reflects changes made to website.
Every Content Management System will have some standard and some unique features. The standard features like content management, link management, page management, template management etc and unique features can be auto mail management, category and sub category management, forums management, banner management etc. It can also acts as a great marketing tool.
